Danny`s Fish and Chips in Barrie

Consistently excellent fish with fair portions. Some places either cheap out on the quality or give small portions, this place does neither.

Sat down and after several minutes server came to take our order didn't even have menus aasked for menus and a cloth he got our drinks. Ordered 1 pop and 2 ice water with lemon one had lemon one didn't . Ordered our food 2 pc haddock and fries 1 pc haddock and fries and pan fried and fries....$7.95 ser charge for pan fried and I got less dish then the regular one. The pan fried looked more like an egg white omelette thinly sliced no color except for the flecks of spice they put on it. Fries were awful and very soggy, fish was equally as gross no coleslaw had to ask for tarter and gravy was tasteless small order of tartar and any more was 0.50. Server never checked on us once had to ask for our bill after our group started leaving for 3 people came to $71 and we were all still hungry and had upset stomachs....never again!!!!!

First time trying. 3 star fish and chips at best. Halibut was a little dry and stringy. The chips didnt taste fresh out of the fryer. I wouldnt go back again.

This is absolutely, hands-down, the best fish and chips outside of Britain.We do a take-away about once a week and have never been disappointed.Any of the fish varieties are fresh and tasty.Chips are always prepared fresh. You can see straight into the kitchen from the take-away counter, so you can see for yourself!

Of all the fish and chip places in barrie,Dannys is by far the best.Large portions of fish and chips ,cooked to perfection. Served in good time even when the place is lined up out the door. The menu is varied . Draft beer is offered and is always cold.I have never been dissapointed with the food or service. Can't find a better place for fish and chips in Barrie. As usual great fish and chips with very pleasant server. They offer half portion of chips which is great and they were like any other companies full size portion!

Good food and service , but I think for the price we could include a little free coleslaw. Maybe? Everyone else does

Easily the best fried shrimp I've ever had. Large, juicy prawns, tails removed and deep-fried in Danny's family batter recipe. The fish is similarly excellent, but the shrimp is where it's at.

We went there for first time food was great and the waitress was helpful I just found it was a bit cold but otherwise I had a great experience

Cod is amazing, moist and a great flavor. Went in 4 cod 3 portions of chips, 1 salad $60. Expensive but one in a while is a treat

Very nice fish and chips. Shrimp is OK, Scallops are Delicious!, both the Haddock and the Halibut were very nice and the fries are great.The batter is very light but flavorful. Milkshakes are fantastic! Prices are about medium range. The environment isn't what you expect of a fish and chips but overall would recommend.

Always great service and great food. Other places I have ordered Halibut and not gotten it, but here it's always right and tastey. Been all over the country and even to Australia. Only way the fish gets better than Danny's is on the coast.

This restaurant has 'quality' seafood & a pleasant environment.We get 'take-out' occasionally - really delicious...fish & chips are fantastic (VERT tasty, in 'light' batter)! Probably one of - if not the best seafood restaurants in Barrie Ontario.

WOW!!! I have been going to their location in Unionville since I was a kid. I happen to be driving through Barrie and noticed a Danny’s fish and chips. My instant thought was this is the same family run business from Unionville known to be one of the best in the GTA. I stopped in, sure enough it was the same family run business. They may have changed locations but they haven’t changed the food! The fish was AMAZING! Their secret family recipe handed down through generations is hard not to recognize.If you feel like Fish & Chips make no mistake this is the spot to go to!!!

We have ordered take out from Danny's several times now. The food is always great! The fish is battered just perfectly - not too much or too little. Its never greasy. There are always lots of homemade french fries too.

Crispy batter and moist, perfectly cooked halibut- The portion is the perfect size- Wasn't greasy at all- The batter was nice and light - The fries are great too

We had Fish and Chips from Danny's for a lunch meeting last month and it was fantastic. Lots of food and very tasty. I will definitely be back. Best Fish & Chips in Barrie!

This is the best fish and chip place in town! Highly recommended, the owners are fantastic and always so excited to see you, and do everything they can to make your day. The wait staff is very friendly, and inviting. I have never had a bad meal here and will continue to dine here!

Best fish & chips!!

When Danny's was in Stroud, they were the best. Since they've moved into Barrie, not such a huge fan anymore. The dining room feels cold and uninviting. The last time I ordered take-out, I was extremely disappointed. The portion was fantastic and ample. Unfortunately the batter fell off my fish. I was left with a pile of fish and a pile of fried soggy batter. For the price that I paid I have decided to seek another fish and chip vendor.

Food is delicious! This is for sure our only fish & chip we will buy from. Friendly staff & great service.

Had the halibut and chips. They were excellent.

Had the takeaway haddock and chips. Was surprised to see a double portion of fish, to along with the mountain of chips. Service was quick, especially with it being the lunch hour. Fish was tasty, chips were crisp.If you're ordering takeaway, be sure to round to the back entrance.

Great family run place. Some of the the best chips around. They treat their customers great and always correct anything that may happen.

My wife and I tried this place out because of the reviews, and now here we are posting a review because the place is soooo good. The owners are amazing and friendly, the portions generous, and the quality is absolutely the best! Fresh fish, perfect batter, non-greasy, and the fries are fresh cut and thick.

We got take away on a Friday night. We were looking forward to our fish and chips after reading all the good reviews.We ordered the halibut and chips, came to 33.79.What a disappointment.You cannot have a good piece of fried fish unless it is thick enough.The fish we got was a small square pancake of fish, so thin that it was inevitably going to dry out when fried.We will never go back there.The other reviewers either did not get the type of bad product we received or they are misleading.There is no way you could have the order of fish and chips we had and say anything good about it.

We each had halibut and chips with half chips and half Caesar salad and 2 soft drinks. The lettuce was brown and not appetizing at all so we hardly touched it. My wife had her fish pan fried not battered. $7.00 surcharge for that. My fish portion size was below average compared to other restaurants although my wife's portion was fine. Bill came to about $57.00 excluding a tip. Not great value as far as I'm concerned. Have ate here before and although it's a bit on the pricey side the quality was good so we came back. Very disappointed this time so probably won't return.

We have been to Danny's many times and always enjoyed it. We have only gone on weekdays until today Jan 5 2019 when we went there on a Saturday . It was not busy when we arrived about 4 pm . Our server needed repeat requests to bring the items we ordered to the table . He appeared disinterested in being a server. During the week there are 3 female servers who are top notch . They were not working today. So it was the usual very good food but not the level of service we are used to.

Best place in Barrie for Fish & Chips. Staff is always pleasant, great value for the serving sizes & of course, the food is always delicious. Highly recommend checking them out.

Fish was good but fries were under cooked, not very appetizing. Will never order from them again. not worth the price paid.
